Richard and Lorraine LeMon, natives of Detroit, Michigan, moved to Texas in 1999 and call home, Centerpoint, Texas. They now consider themselves “true Texans” and have been asked regularly to put an event together for Black History month. With Motown in their bloodline and a love for the performing arts, they couldn’t say no to this wonderful opportunity. In the fall of 2004 the decided to write something that would include all races and the more they thought about it, it became clear, that as they had traveled to various parts of the world, music was a universal language. They began to research how music was vitally significant to bridging the races, not only here, but abroad. Thus “The Journey of the Silver Chord” was born with the theme of “music was used to run like silver and tie the world together”

This musical will take you on a journey from the rhythms that created Jazz, Blues and Swing to Hip Hop and Pop. Loaded with dancing, singing, live music and imagery; each scene will take you back in time. With the songs of Thomas Dorsey to the Soulful sounds of Billy Holiday all the way to Aretha Franklin and Sam Cooke. The Journey is now preparing for its 7th year running having presented at the Carver Theater in San Antonio, Cailloux Theater in Kerrville and a variety of other places. The Journey Musical is once again preparing for its annual presentation on Feb 11 and 12, 2011 at the Hill Country Camp Conference Center in Kerrville Texas.  Being Valentines weekend there will also be a “Dinner with the Show”.So come out and see a great show...and be a great support to our Art2Heart kids.
